This is the new logo for the 2012 London Olympics (by Wolff Olins), released today.
A sad day for our advertising/ graphic design industry, I feel.
Read Seb Coe's justification here.
Apparently, it comes in a series of shades of pink, blue, green and orange (euurrrgh) and will "evolve" in the run-up to the Games. Perhaps it evolves into a logo that's actually good...
Thanks to Paul Silburn for the tip
UPDATE: There's an unintentionally hilarious video that goes with it.

Ooh, isn't it trendy. It took me four looks to figure out that it reads 2012!
I don't know why, but the graphics in that video remind me of the graphics behind Max Headroom.
They're kind of head-ache inducing, imo.
Quite an instant outcry coming out of not just the design community, but all corners. Coe and cohorts, when unveiling this thing, sure did expect a lot of their logo, designed to "get people off their couches."
Yeah - in protest.
i think it's awesome!
somebody actually sat down and thought of this.
must have taken ages to arrange it in such an erratic manner, and i can only imagine the effort it took to sell the color-blind arrangement...
Having read the post below this one about the pencils handed out for digital work can I just tip any online versions of this Olympics crap for next years Gold Pencil?
"Oooh, it's so nu-rave and kewl and down with the myspace generation..."
When 2012 arrives, we'll have a logo that screams 2007 (or is that 1985?).
Twats.
this is really embarassing, the video looks like sat morning tv from the early 80's and the logo, sorry I mean 'brand' looks like one of timmy mallets jumper designs. They should be ashamed of themselves. What were they thinking?
After viewing the video, over 40,000 epileptic kids went into fits.
Wake up people, it's brilliant! Reminds me of Tiswas!
Jesus!! I was only kidding as well!!
The 2012 promo has had to be taken off air. The flashing colours break ASA guidelines. Thousands of people have suffered from migraines and fits.
i was in a pub last night in New York and they were talking about how crap the logo is on ESPN. that's how bad it is.
