I saw it last night too. I thought it was pretty mesmerising. Didn't behave like a typical ad. Coolness and restraint in spades. Stood out like the dogs nuts. Don't knock it. It's all the folksy pastel-graded hippy shit I'm getting bored with.
I quite liked it - firstly it shows, well trys to give the feeling of high definition so it sells Bravia, and second it shows how tough (who) James Bond is - so besides feeling quite retail, it does a decent enough job - but not excellent by any measure.
The version I've seen has a much livelier soundtrack. Either way, WTF? It's mildly interesting and it looks good in HD on my Sony Bravia TV, so there, nyaaaa nyaaaa.
HD is the visual equivelent of the music nerd who can talk about his hi-fi speakers for two hours and knows the exact best place in the room to listen to them.
And then puts on Brian Adams.
I think it's quite appropriate that what you're actually watching here is quite boring. Visual fanboy nerd will creaming his pants about the detail on the explosions.
I'm glad it looks so good on your Sony Bravia, I'm sure it was Fallon's intention to persuade people who already own the fucking TV to buy another one.
well technically it's not much of a wow effect on a regular TV screen either. If their target audience only covers the ones that already own HDs, that's definitely an example of twisted logic.
hey, he likes it, we don't, but I think that's where we should stop with the differential between us. Offensive words would most definitely leave his opinion the same.
thank god you didn't let your profile available. You see, there's an interesting fashion around here: if you post a comment people don't agree with, your name becomes the target of all frustration-generated negative energies.
No, it's not a BAD ad. It's just that when you hear the words "New Sony ad from Fallon featuring Daniel Craig", you just expect... well... a bit more I suppose.
Firstly, it just doesn't seem to deserve all its 60 seconds. Yeah, spectacular - for 20 maybe.
Beautifully shot too, but as someone pointed out, we're being asked to appreciate HD in Normal Definition. Although, ideas first - it's not as if when viewed in HD we'd all be going, "we take it back, it's brilliant!"
However, there is kudos in getting Daniel Craig to star in it in the first place.
So, while there seems to be a lot of bile and vitriol reserved for this, personally, I just feel a bit "meh" about it.
Which is a shame, because Fallon as an agency are anything but "meh". Regardless of what you read on this blog sometimes!

If you turn OO7 upside down it reads LOO.
Which, coincidentally, is where this terrible ad belongs.
wha' happen?
I've never seen nothing happening take so long.
No NO NOOOOOOO!
was what i said when I saw that rubbish last night. And if it is supposed to be hi-def shouldn't his cuts look more realistic?
wouldn't a better hi def bond ad be one where you clearly see that he's not getting hit in the fight scenes
to be fair, Daniel Craig hates doing ads and therefore won't agree to anything very much. The Bond people are nightmares too.
They prob had him to shoot for half a day max.
HD, Bond by Sony, whatever. i like it.
who done it?
Is Fallon now preparing to switch to better prints and let go of TV? Quite suicidal attitude, to be honest.
If it'd had Roger Moore in it, it would've been fucking brill.
It's Fallon predicting their own future after Juan leaves.
Reading this blog after Lunar's feels like deja whinge.
i thought it was quite cool plus it shows how HARD Bond is you try surviving when shit is blowing up!
yeah, very deep. Let's be serious..
Bond is a fictional character. My ability to survive when things are blowing up is less than his because I am real.
also it is the kind of ad that makes you focus on more important things, like the fact that tomorrow is the release date for Oliver Stone's "W.".
Scamp, this blog is pretty sexist at the best of times, but the above comment is disgusting.

Silence wench!
@anon 3.50: Put your knickers on and go and make me a cup of tea. After that go in the car and keep my seat warm.
I didn't think it was too bad. There are a lot of things on TV nowadays that are far worse. Flog It! For example. Or this man:

Actually, he's quite entertaining...
I hope he is more enthusiastic in the actual film.

Fallon never do good ads with special CG effects.Stick to stunts and bits of colored cardboard.
Do all HD TV's just work in slo-mo?
Why is this the only way of showing HD.
Watching Time Team on HD would be like watching real time weathering, rather than digging.
I love Time Team. Lets all sex a skeleton!
what's the deal with their website? Looks like someone's fucked up to me...
the url is at the end of the ad
www.sony.com/bond
PS ad is unnerving.

The website takes you to the wrong film!
Who said Fallon couldn't do digital?
Is that really the right sound track for the ad?
no, but it's Craig's favourite gotobed thing.
It's amazingly similar to a PlayStation ad for Tekken a few years back which showed a fighter reeling from punches from an invisible opponent.
Except for the fact that there aren't any punches and you can see the explosions.
Anonymous @5:23 PM, I was thinking of buying another one for my bedroom. You really ought to get one you know. They are jolly good.
Daniel Craig is bored, James Bored...
I've cut myself in fucking hi HD just seeing that shite. Cocks.
I enjoyed it personally, though evaluating an HD ad on youtube is somewhat laughable.

Facu 2:53 PM, you'd like shit wrapped in cling film if it came from another Argentine.
Keep yourself to your side of Atlantic.

I wanna watch it again, so it's a good ad.

toss wank shit

this is the funniest spot ive seen all year. bravo fallon!
@Kiki.
I don't think this version of the ad actually aired.
The URL at the end of the version on Campaign's website is www.sony.co.uk/bondhd, which takes you through to a related website.
Have to agree with Scamp, mind you. I think the ad is somewhat interesting to look at, but what's the idea behind it?
Perhaps I'm just a thicko. A big stupid thicko.
i don't get it. i won't watch bond on a fancy telly. i'll watch it in the cinema.
Something new for everyone to bitch about. D&AD jurors are out...

I must say Mr. Craig's "oh I've been hit by something, must wiggle about a bit" movements are really bad, yet strangely compelling because of it.
the first comment on this chain (LOO) just made my day
this spot's crap
At least he looked buff. definitly one for all those men-starved women out there!
Caught the ad on Friday.
I was transfixed.
Great stuff.
Well done everyone involved.
