It's good morning from Prague, where Scowling A.D. and I are filming some ads.
I won't be blogging about the actual shoot because of client confidentiality, but I would love to hear any tips you may have about shooting in Prague in general.
It seems that, due to the quality of the studios and crews, and various cost and currency differentials, every man and his dog has shot here. Have you? What was it like? Where should I go for dinner tonight? And what can I do that will be more fun than staying in my tiny and slightly too-warm hotel room watching CNN?

I haven't shot in Prague since 2001, but unless on-set catering has changed, go and find a pizza somewhere else.

Head to the Blue Light Jazz bar in the centre. Brilliant interior great atmosphere, full of locals. Had a great time there when we were shooting with Danny Kleinman.
erm...if you're not spending your off time knee deep in strippers and strong european beer, then i give up.

Any remote chance of an eastern european restaurant to ruin a meal, they will.
On the set you get served some sort of vegetable Soup at about 11am. Then all day long a runner hands out Soviet era chocolate bars, that taste of nothing, they have all the texture of, say a twix, but taste of nothing!.
Good quality russian cameras are cheap. Avoid the British Stag doos around the old town Square!
Getting ratted on the local sparkling wine isn't good.
They have very good Sushi for a Nation thats only really half a Country.

Hi Scamp. I wasn't in Prague for shooting an ad but what I can definitely recommend are two dishes (spelling most likely off here):
1.Klobassa- hot sausage perfect for late night snack after a few drinks
2.Bramborek- awesome. Everything in it tastes fantastic (provided you like spicey beef)

If you're after some culture check out the Jewish graveyard, amazing.
The Palffy Palace as James said is definitely a good steer.
Also Pravda on the main shopping street has good grub and the menu is themed with dishes from all around the world. Kampa Park is a good place also to eat - it's on the other side of the river from the Old Town Square and overlooks the river and the Charles Bridge.
Shot there far too often.
The porn in my room was so good I didn't see no Prague. Except for those three hookers.

Thanks for the recommendations. On the first night, we dined at Kampa Park, and the second night, Palfy Palace. Both excellent. We're all getting knackered now, it'll probably be room service from this point on.
